Weekend Walk - Bedfordshire.

My sister Abbie went off to university in September 2011 and whilst it was scary to say Goodbye to her and move her into her new fresher's flat, I was very proud of her :) She is going to be a secondary school teacher and absolutely loves it!

At the weekend we went to visit her, we had delicious food, shopped 'til we dropped &walked around various beautiful parks in the Bedford area... The pretty daffodils filled the lake edge &we even found time for a cheeky strawberry&orange ice lolly!...

Definitely have a day out to visit the beautiful town!

Work in Paris!

Vilebrequin -

 A Gorgeous Luxury Men's & Boy's Swimwear Brand.

After the success of Retail week 2012 (See what happened here); a job offer arose. The Chief Operating Officer of the brand, met us at the conference after we won and asked if we would be available to complete some marketing projects for the brand. The brand has over 150 stores globally and has dressed celebrities including; Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Gerard Butler & Sir Paul McCartney.

Initially we were going to meet in the London Head Office, but as the brand was initially created in Saint Tropez, France, the COO decided it would be perfect for us to go to the Paris HQ to be briefed on our new job.

Therefore the company have provided us with three tickets for the Eurostar on Wednesday. We are so excited and cannot wait to start working for this fabulous company!

I will update you after Paris! I am so excited, I simply love Paris!

So, for now;

Retail Week 2012 - We Won!!

I love a good competition, particularly one that features marketing & advertising! Therefore when Retail Week 2012 proposed the "Brand Britain competition" to London College of Fashion students; I was so excited!

TASK-
- Choose a British Brand.
- Create a marketing concept involving the London Olympics 2012.
- Ensure the store concept reflects the British heritage of the brand.

We chose Alice Temperley's Bridal collection Ophelia 2012 (See it all here); a collection so beautiful and elegant we thought it the perfect juxtaposition to the London Olympics.

We presented in round one to the senior producers of retail week and to our pleasant surprise we made it into the four finalists! I was so thankful to have such a great group -Shivani, Carolina & Dorcas; we worked so well together and loved every minute, even if we did get a bit distracted by some chocolate brownies at one point (yes okay I got distracted aha!)

A week later we were at the finals at the prestigious London Hilton Metropole in Edgeware Road, presenting our concepts to over 1000 top marketing directors & CEO's. It was probably the most nerve-wracking experience of my life, but also the biggest adrenaline buzz I have ever felt!!

                                       My outfit for the day.

                              Team Temperley.

The judges were Nick Robertson (CEO of ASOS) & George Davies (Founder of Next, George @Asda & Per Una at M&S) and they had to pick the team they thought had the best overall presentation.

6PM came and we were ushered into the drinks reception to discover the winning group. George Davies took to the stage & announced that "all ideas were good, but one group in particular had great clarity in terms of marketing, the consumer can only take one message and this group completed that. They also thought about what would happen after the Olympics concept had finished. Therefore I am happy to announce the award goes to the four fantastic ladies from Team Temperley."

To say we SCREAMED with excitement, is a clear understatement! (Check out Dorcas' face, on the left!)

With George...

Our final concepts, along with the London 2012 Olympics, decided to focus on the typical British seasons - Summer, Autumn &Winter for the 2012 year. The idea below demonstrates our Winter Concept (which in the presentation actually had the snow falling within the globe)...

PRIZES-
Not only did we receive an amazing opportunity of work experience at OgilvyOne and a award, we were given an iPad2 each!...

Thank you so much to the amazing judges & audience, my tutors who believed in us from the start, all my team members who worked until the early hours of many mornings to get this perfect, and to everyone who participated in the competition, who were equally great!

Boden Challenge!

Since my studies began at London College of Fashion, many opportunities have opened up to me, which I am so grateful for!

Boden, the UK clothing retailer, came to present to us in December 2011 and set us the brief of doubling their turnover within 3 years. Therefore I formed a group with 2 other girls in my course and we set to work. It was set as a competition and therefore we are determined to win!

Our work has been chosen as one of the two finalists and in April 2012 we are to present our final marketing concept ideas to the Boden HQ in Acton. I will keep you posted after the presentation & fill you in!

For now stay tuned!

Mary Portas

I think she is great; everything about her. So when were heading back into London College of Fashion after completing store research, and we bumped into her, you can imagine how happy I was!

I have also recently been watching her programme on Channel4 - Mary's Bottom Line, where she attempts to train up young people to work back in British Factories, and to bring production back to Britain. An issue that I am 100% for! If you haven't seen the programme, catch up now on 4oD here, it's brilliant!

It turns out these shots below were actually from her tv programme... She was so nice, she walked up to us and said hello, and asked how we were. GO MARY GO!

Belvedere Vodka

I love social media. Love it. Everyone calls me the SocialMediaBug because I am that addicted. Well this time it paid off! On my Twitter account (follow me here) I follow quite a few people and in the run up to London Fashion Week I was even more obsessed than normal! (Social Media Rehab anyone?)

It just so happened that I tweeted BelvedereVodkaUK at precisely the right time, because a day later I had won two exclusive VIP tickets to their LCF Matthew Williamson After Party. Obviously I rang Mark straight away and he pretty much said yes, when I said "I've won two...".

So Sunday night came, the show was amazing, with the most brilliant colours & fabrics from Matthew Williamson. Around 9pm we headed to Nobu in Berkeley Street , the perfect venue; dim lighting, fabulous decor and a hushed buzz of the arriving guests. On our arrival we were presented with a selection of different, red-infused, Belvedere vodka mixes.

The night got underway and the decks
were spun with absolute perfection by the talented DJ Scarlett Etienne, who just oozes 'cool'.

Eventually Matthew Williamson arrived with Twiggy, Jodie Harsh & Ben Hudson (Mr Hudson).
They were all so lovely and down to earth. The most surreal moment was when Matthew took to the dancefloor with Twiggy, dancing to Lady Gaga & 'Girls just want to have fun'.
It was a great night, met some brilliant people.

Thank you BelvedereVodkaUK!!

FOR MARK

My best friend Mark, a regular face on my blog, is not very well at the moment.
Unfortunately I am in London & he is in Southampton, so I can't feed him soup or give him any hugs...

So I am hoping this will do for now....

Stella McCartney at Selfridges

So as you already all know, I love Fashion. I study it, work in it, dream of it and if there was such thing as a Fashion filled cake, I'd probably eat it. (LOL).

Anyway so the other night I won exclusive tickets to a press night for the Launch of Stella McCartney's new fragrance Lily. My best friend and I went along to the evening held in Selfridges London, Ground Floor.

We were given goody bags, with free samples of the gorgeous perfume, books about the designer, a bright neon badge stating "I <3 STELLA" and some deliciously strong pink champagne truffles. The evening was great, Stella McCartney was interviewed by the Editor in Chief of British Vogue, Alexandra Shulman.

Various things were discussed including her love of the countryside and her children. Then she also uncovered she was so happy to have been chosen to help design the Official Olympic collection for Britain, but said it was so time-consuming she was worrying for her main label! (To which the audience all laughed).

After the interview, there was a chance for mingling with the fashionistas that had filled the room, including the designer herself. Cupcakes with 'STELLA' were offered by handsome waitors, and the champagne kept flowing into glasses that seemed to be never-ending.

Right at the end of the evening, as Selfridges was closing, we were offered to take some of the beautiful balloons that had been left...

It was such a great night, and I loved spending it with Mark!

P.s Have you seen Stella's Olympic 2012 collection, what do you think of it?
