Paris!

So on Wednesday, Dorcas, Shivani and I headed off to Paris for our first official business meeting with the luxury swimwear brand Vilebrequin.

We met at 8am and headed onto the Eurostar.

Arriving in sunny Paris at 2pm we met the Paris team in their Head Office in Madeleine, France.
We discussed the exciting new brief they are setting us, involving marketing & store visual merchandising. When the brief is finished, I will show you all a cheeky preview to what we have!

The rest of the afternoon we were lucky enough to enjoy the sunshine that fell upon Paris, and took a walk around the Eiffel Tower & alongside the river leading us to a lovely arrangement of restaurants near Gare Du Nord. We ate 'Alfresco' in the boiling sunshine before heading back home to London,

Weekend Walk - Bedfordshire.

My sister Abbie went off to university in September 2011 and whilst it was scary to say Goodbye to her and move her into her new fresher's flat, I was very proud of her :) She is going to be a secondary school teacher and absolutely loves it!

At the weekend we went to visit her, we had delicious food, shopped 'til we dropped &walked around various beautiful parks in the Bedford area... The pretty daffodils filled the lake edge &we even found time for a cheeky strawberry&orange ice lolly!...










































Definitely have a day out to visit the beautiful town!

The Ellen Degeneres show is great; so funny & she's a brilliant presenter. But when she interviewed her wife Portia De Rossi, on her show, I completely fell in love... a photo tells a thousand words so here you go...

Work in Paris!

Vilebrequin -

 A Gorgeous Luxury Men's & Boy's Swimwear Brand.

After the success of Retail week 2012 (See what happened here); a job offer arose. The Chief Operating Officer of the brand, met us at the conference after we won and asked if we would be available to complete some marketing projects for the brand. The brand has over 150 stores globally and has dressed celebrities including; Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Gerard Butler & Sir Paul McCartney.

Initially we were going to meet in the London Head Office, but as the brand was initially created in Saint Tropez, France, the COO decided it would be perfect for us to go to the Paris HQ to be briefed on our new job.

Therefore the company have provided us with three tickets for the Eurostar on Wednesday. We are so excited and cannot wait to start working for this fabulous company!

 I will update you after Paris! I am so excited, I simply love Paris!

Retail Week 2012 - We Won!!

I love a good competition, particularly one that features marketing & advertising! Therefore when Retail Week 2012 proposed the "Brand Britain competition" to London College of Fashion students; I was so excited!

TASK-

- Choose a British Brand.

- Create a marketing concept involving the London Olympics 2012.

- Ensure the store concept reflects the British heritage of the brand.

We chose Alice Temperley's Bridal collection Ophelia 2012 (See it all here); a collection so beautiful and elegant we thought it the perfect juxtaposition to the London Olympics.

We presented in round one to the senior producers of retail week and to our pleasant surprise we made it into the four finalists! I was so thankful to have such a great group -Shivani, Carolina & Dorcas; we worked so well together and loved every minute, even if we did get a bit distracted by some chocolate brownies at one point (yes okay I got distracted aha!)

A week later we were at the finals at the prestigious London Hilton Metropole in Edgeware Road, presenting our concepts to over 1000 top marketing directors & CEO's. It was probably the most nerve-wracking experience of my life, but also the biggest adrenaline buzz I have ever felt!!

The judges were Nick Robertson (CEO of ASOS) & George Davies (Founder of Next, George @Asda & Per Una at M&S) and they had to pick the team they thought had the best overall presentation.

  

6PM came and we were ushered into the drinks reception to discover the winning group. George Davies took to the stage & announced that "all ideas were good, but one group in particular had great clarity in terms of marketing, the consumer can only take one message and this group completed that. They also thought about what would happen after the Olympics concept had finished. Therefore I am happy to announce the award goes to the four fantastic ladies from Team Temperley." 

To say we SCREAMED with excitement, is a clear understatement! (Check out Dorcas' face, on the left!)

With George...

Our final concepts, along with the London 2012 Olympics, decided to focus on the typical British seasons - Summer, Autumn &Winter for the 2012 year. The idea below demonstrates our Winter Concept (which in the presentation actually had the snow falling within the globe)...

Not only did we receive an amazing opportunity of work experience at OgilvyOne and a award, we were given an iPad2 each!...

Thank you so much to the amazing judges & audience, my tutors who believed in us from the start, all my team members who worked until the early hours of many mornings to get this perfect, and to everyone who participated in the competition, who were equally great!
